This recorded amendment will now form part of the Contract stated above.
As with a simple contract, this should also be signed and dated by both parties and
securely fixed to the original copies of the contracts.
Key watchpoints
• Assess whether any changes generate the need to amend the terms of the
original contract.
• Ensure that all subsequent amendments to the contract are recorded.
5.3 Signing the contract
For the Contract to become legally binding, both parties need to execute the
Contract by completing and signing the Agreement section of the document
and initialling any alterations to the Conditions. All appendices should carry an
identification letter or number and the last party to sign also enters the date in the
Agreement clause.
After assembling the contract documents, the Architect/Consultant should arrange
for their signature by both parties either by hand or as a deed.
