The Contract Conditions
This section is in two parts – the Definition of Terms and the Clauses.
The Definition of Terms lists words and phrases found in the document that need
a further explanation to understand what the words mean rather than giving a
definition within the main body of the Contract.
The Clauses are the major terms of the Contract which determine the obligations of
the parties. These clauses are the basis of any contract and affect the contractual
duties of the parties. If one of them fails or is broken, the Contract is breached.
The Clauses are set out in a similar order to the Contract Details. The clause
numbering of the standard PSC conditions is used as the basis for the conditions
in other RIBA PSCs for the same subjects and reflects the legal differences in the
UK between domestic (consumer) and business clients, as well as some specific
requirements.
