The RIBA Professional Services Contracts 2018 comprise a suite of print copy and
electronic format Contracts suitable for use by Architects and other professional
Consultants when being appointed to provide architectural and other services by
both commercial and domestic clients.
At the time of publication, the suite comprises the following forms but it is envisaged
that further variations will be made available over time:

RIBA Concise Professional Services Contract for Architectural Services
RIBA Domestic Professional Services Contract for Architectural Services
RIBA Principal Designer Professional Services Contract
RIBA Sub-consultant Professional Services Contract
The new RIBA PSCs are designed to be:
• in line with current working practices, legislative changes and procurement
methods
• attractive to Clients, Architects and other Consultants, with robust, fair terms
• suitable for a wide range of projects and services
• based upon the RIBA Plan of Work 2013 (available for download free from
www.ribaplanofwork.com)
• available in electronic and printed formats (www.ribacontracts.com).
2.1 Overall structure
The RIBA PSCs are all divided into four main parts:
• the Agreement
• the Contract Details
• the Contract Conditions
–– Definition of Terms
–– Clauses
• the Schedule of Services.
In addition, a Contract Checklist is included, highlighting items to be considered
before signing the Contract. Additional briefing documents may also form part of the
Contract but they need to be listed in the Contract Details.
2.2 General components
The components of the RIBA Professional Services Contracts 2018 follow the same
principles irrespective of the particular format, albeit with minor variations to suit the
selected version. The following summarises the main sections and the detail will be
developed in Chapter 4.
The Agreement
This is where the parties to the Contract sign and date the document.
The Contract Details
This section states the specific details of the project to be filled in.
