Note: This Design Programme has been copied from Figure 4.2 of Leading the
Team: An Architect’s Guide to Design Management, where the logic behind the
programme and the additional tools required for use in conjunction with the
programme are set out in greater detail.
This example of a Stage 2 programme:
•firmly establishes the start of the stage and also the end point, when the project
team information will be issued
•focuses on the briefing period, including end user meetings, as well as setting
out key client meeting dates
•establishes when the design team will meet, including a number of specific
coordination workshops
•sets out when the proposals will be costed by the cost consultant and the
reports prepared by the building services and structural engineer will be prepared
•acknowledges that the development of aspects of the general arrangement
drawings may extend (dotted line) beyond the programmed date to suit the
iterative process (any implications for the rest of the design team’s information,
if any, would need to be clear in the stage report).
