The Design Responsibility Matrix incorporates the Information
Exchanges to be made at the end of each stage. The purpose
of allocating design responsibility and defining Information
Exchanges has been set out on the previous pages. This figure
clarifies the specific purpose of each column of the Design
Responsibility Matrix. A practice- or project-specific Design
Responsibility Matrix can be generated using in-house
templates based on the format and logic set out in this figure
or a template can be downloaded from www.ribaplanofwork.
com/toolbox. It is intended that the online template should
continue to evolve in line with feedback and that the template
will be developed into an online tool. It is crucial to read the
Level of Design (LOD) columns and the Information Exchange
columns together as LOD may dictate that an outline
specification is required whereas the Information Exchange
may require no geometric information to be exchanged.
