The multidisciplinary Schedules of Services set out on the following pages have
been developed to align with the RIBA Plan of Work 2013 by allocating each of the
tasks set out in the Plan to one of the core roles for each stage of a project.
Where a particular task requires one role to support another, the requisite tasks
have also been identified.
While this ‘hardcopy’ version of the Schedules of Services can be utilised, it
has not been designed to be definitive and it is recommended that the version
at www.ribaplanofwork.com/toolbox, which is free to download, is used.
The online version:
•includes activities specific to procurement and tendering, which can be added
at the appropriate stage depending on the chosen procurement route (see below)
• will be updated in line with the Feedback received
•allows tasks to be moved from one role to another where this is deemed
relevant (a feature which may be of particular interest to those developing
practice-specific Schedules of Services)
•allows additional project roles and the requisite tasks to be added.
While the Schedules of Services focus on the core management tasks that are
required, the inclusion of further, more detailed management tasks may also be
beneficial on certain projects. For example:
• specific reporting requirements
• particular expectations for attendance at meetings
• precise requirements for the review of information.
These types of task might feasibly be included in a management responsibility
matrix incorporated within the Design Responsibility Matrix. In any event, the
completed Schedules of Services and Design Responsibility Matrix incorporating
Information Exchanges should provide a comprehensive set of tasks for a
multidisciplinary team, moulded to suit the particular requirements of a practice
or project.
Specific Stage 7 duties have not been included. It is currently envisaged that
they would be incorporated within separate professional services contracts or
operational contracts.
The procurement tasks that might be added in Stages 1 to 4, depending on the
procurement route, include:
•as part of the process of assembling the project team, agreeing the
procurement route with the client and determining the form of Building
Contract to be used
